本詞典共包括三部分內(nèi)容：圖解詞典部分、英漢對照詞匯部分和漢英對照詞匯部分。圖解詞典部分以專業(yè)排列系統(tǒng)介紹了常用化工工藝流程及機械設(shè)備，工藝流程包括石油化工、煤化工、化工工藝、廢物處理；機械設(shè)備包括傳熱設(shè)備、蒸餾與吸收設(shè)備、萃取、離子交換與吸附設(shè)備、蒸發(fā)器與結(jié)晶設(shè)備、干燥設(shè)備、過濾設(shè)備、離心機與壓榨設(shè)備、氣固分離設(shè)備、粉碎設(shè)備、固體的混合與分離設(shè)備、造粒設(shè)備、流化床系統(tǒng)和反應(yīng)器、泵、壓縮機與風(fēng)機、真空設(shè)備、旋轉(zhuǎn)軸密封、制冷設(shè)備、壓力容器、閥門與管件、輸送與稱量設(shè)備、工業(yè)爐、動力裝置等。給出了流程及設(shè)備涉及的物料、過程、部件的中英文名稱。英漢對照詞匯部分以英文順序排列，漢英對照詞匯部分已詞匯中文名稱的漢語拼音順序排列，兩部分詞匯每詞后給出了此詞在圖解詞典中的部分位置，可供索引之用。本詞典可供化工、煉油、輕工、環(huán)保、能源、食品等領(lǐng)域的技術(shù)人員以及從事化工設(shè)備進出口的貿(mào)易人員參考，也可作為高校學(xué)生專業(yè)英語課程的輔助讀物。
陳國桓，天津大學(xué)化工學(xué)院教授，天津大學(xué)化工機械教研室從事化工機械專業(yè)教學(xué)、科研及指導(dǎo)研究生工作30余年。編著《英漢漢英化工縮略語詞典》、《化工機械基礎(chǔ)》（第二版、第三版）等著作。
